Transforming How You Pay Your Staff

Traditionally staff are paid monthly in arrears through BACS or sometimes weekly depending on the industry. Payroll staff have limited time for making changes and add little value to the business as they are increasingly burdened with more and more regulation.  And generally, businesses are reluctant to invest in this part of the company.

Meanwhile the cost of recruiting and retaining staff is ever increasing. Disruption in the banking industry is now spreading to payments and the wider uptake of APIs, driven by Open Banking legislation is now opening up new possibilities to transform the way payroll is run in relation to paying staff.

Companies can now use technology to use payroll to increase staff retention and loyalty without incremental cost by:

  • paying more frequently
  • offering pay on demand options
  • using alternative providers of payment services
  • integrating their platforms into banking service providers
  • reducing the manual time spent on payroll processes allowing increased time for value adding activities
  • eliminating payroll errors through automation and systems integration

Compliance as a Winning Tool

Recruitment businesses and their clients could be forgiven for not prioritising compliance, but it’s time that changed. The recruitment sector is seeing an ever-increasing burden of regulation and the government is looking to place more and more responsibility on end-clients to ensure that their supply chain is ethical. The smartest recruitment businesses are already seizing this as an opportunity to demonstrate real value to clients as they provide a much-needed service to minimise their risk. Join Julia as she discusses IR35 and off-payroll reforms, how to spot a dubious “solution”, managing your supply chain and Key Information Documents.

The Power of I

There is much talk of unconscious bias in businesses right now. And while that’s real, is it a potential excuse for hurtful language and behaviour? Through education, ‘safe space’ conversations and practice we can move to a world where conscious inclusion resides, and businesses can truly leverage the potential of their people.

We copy what we see every day.  So through spreading positivity at work, those that we engage with learn how to drive inclusion in everything they do.

This talk is authentic, immersive, engaging and action-focused. Not only is Jackie expertly placed to truly speak from the heart on this topic, but her extensive professional career in recruitment leadership gives her a deep understanding of the way in which workforce needs are changing.

Organisations possessing strong values that they truly live and breathe through their language and behaviours are those who attract, engage and retain the best people. We all have an innate need to feel safe, to feel like we belong and to feel valued for our contribution. We all have the power to make that happen. And when we do, the return on that investment is priceless.

How to Save Time & Generate More Leads Using Big Data & Marketing Automation

Most recruitment companies are doing some kind of marketing, whether that’s putting posts on social media, making branded job graphics, creating content or (if you’re really lucky) getting consultants to write articles and send out branded emails.

This is all fantastic, but if you’re sat there thinking, “What’s next?”… Harriet has three words: Data. Personalisation. Automation. In this session you’ll learn how to take your marketing from promotion to conversion, why you should be using marketing to collect data and, in a post-GDPR world, how to use your website and CRM to drive personalised conversations with your clients and candidates to increase revenue.

Whether you’re just starting out in marketing or you’ve got it sussed, Harriet will be showing you how you can deliver the numbers, whilst still being creative with your brand.

How Platform Technology is Turning the World of Temp Recruitment on its Head

High volume shift management is hard to do without tech, but most solutions today rely on siloed spreadsheets, or run on systems that look & feel a decade behind. But workers’ take-up of smartphones and IT depts’ increasing confidence with SaaS (Software as a Service) are now allowing end-hirers to run systems that connect directly with their temp suppliers and their workers, improving efficiency and offering real-time spend data.

Building on this foundation, next-generation tech will harness machine learning to optimise workforce planning across perms, temps and talent pools, and dynamically manage the recruitment pipeline.

How To Attract Diverse Candidates Through Flexible Hiring

Flexible working is increasingly important as a consideration for candidates when looking to move jobs or progress within an organisation. 87% of employees either work flexibly already or wish they could, and it’s considered more important than salary by some.

For some groups of people, the ability to work flexibly is critical. Many women, older workers, single parents and people with disabilities or mental health issues can only work if they can find a part-time or flexible role. But there’s a massive gap between supply and demand, with only 15% of jobs advertised as having flexible options.

Employers offering quality flexible jobs can tackle recruitment and skills problems by encouraging applications from a more diverse pool of talent pool. Learn more about the business benefits of flexible working and how to embed flexible hiring into your recruitment process to address talent attraction challenges.

The Human Cloud

Undoubtedly a polarising subject, it comes as no surprise that technological advancements, globalisation and the human cloud is radicalising how we work, and how we hire.

The rise in digital processes such as automation and artificial intelligence (AI) is enabling how, where and when we work, shaped around more modern attitudes relating to work-life balance.

We’re seeing in the hospitality space, which has always been more traditional in its recruitment strategy, that many are quickly adopting disruptive technology enabled staffing businesses because of the mutual benefits it presents to clients and candidates alike.

This shift to the world of work is quickly diminishing the place for traditional recruitment, and it’s becoming crucial for organisations to look to new staffing models in order to acquire talent they need to make their businesses thrive.

The way forward is to embrace the fastest-growing segment of today’s technology-fuelled gig economy, the Human Cloud.
